Most of the buildings in Makoko lack electricity, running water, and sewers. But there are some solar panels.

Life is very communal in Makoko. Groups of twenty or more share, gather and cook food.

Here's a school that teaches multiple grades in one classroom.

While photographing architectural details at a school in Makoko, I saw a wooden bench inscribed with the following message: "IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR LOVING MOTHER ELIZABETH ADAMU 1937 - 2023."
